Screen replacement

iPad screen repair

A cracked iPad screen is the single most common repair we see, and it covers more than just broken glass. We replace screens that are shattered, have spreading cracks, show lines or coloured bands, have dead zones that don’t respond to touch, register phantom or ghost touches on their own, or have gone completely black while the iPad still makes sounds. Each of those points to a different layer of the display, and a proper diagnosis tells us whether it’s the outer glass, the digitiser that reads your touch, or the LCD/OLED panel underneath.

iPads are harder to repair well than phones, and it matters who does it. On most modern iPads the glass, digitiser and panel are fused into one laminated assembly and bonded to the frame with strong adhesive, so removing a damaged screen takes controlled heat, the right tools and patience to avoid cracking the panel further or damaging the flex cables, the Face ID or Touch ID parts, or the board beneath. Rushing this is how cheap repairs end up with screens that lift at the edges, lose touch sensitivity, or fail within weeks.

We fit quality screens matched to your exact model, reseal the assembly properly so it sits flush and stays sealed against dust, and test the full surface for touch accuracy, brightness and Face ID or Touch ID function before we hand it back. If your iPad has a laminated ProMotion display, as the iPad Pro and newer iPad Air models do, we explain the part options and price clearly so you can choose with full information.

Battery

iPad battery replacement

iPad batteries wear out, and the signs are easy to spot once you know them: the charge drops far faster than it used to, the iPad shuts down even though it shows charge remaining, it only works while plugged in, or, in the more serious case, the screen or back begins to lift because the battery has physically swollen. A swelling battery is not something to ignore, the pressure can crack the screen and, in rare cases, becomes a safety risk, so it’s worth acting on early.

Replacing an iPad battery is a careful job. The battery is glued firmly to the inside of the chassis, so it has to be released safely without bending the frame or puncturing the cell, and a swollen battery has to be handled with particular care. We use the correct removal technique, fit a fresh genuine-grade battery rated to the original capacity, reseal everything properly, and then test charging behaviour and battery health before returning it. A good battery replacement brings an older iPad that still does everything you need right back to all-day life, often for a fraction of the price of a new device.

Charging

iPad charging port repair

If your iPad won’t charge, charges only at certain cable angles, keeps connecting and disconnecting, or charges painfully slowly, the charging port is the usual suspect, though not always the cause. Sometimes the port is simply packed with pocket lint and dust, which we can clean, and sometimes the port itself is worn, bent or corroded, often after liquid got in, and needs replacing. On older iPads this is a Lightning port; on the newer iPad, iPad Air, iPad mini and iPad Pro models it’s USB-C, and we repair both.

We diagnose the real cause first so you’re not paying for a part you don’t need. If it’s debris or a cable fault, we tell you honestly. If the port needs replacing, we fit a new one and test charging from empty to confirm it holds properly. Because the charging port also takes the brunt of daily plugging and unplugging, a clean replacement often restores reliable charging that had been getting steadily worse for months.

Water damage

iPad liquid damage repair

Liquid and iPads don’t mix, and the damage isn’t always immediate. Water, juice, coffee or seawater leaves residue on the logic board that keeps corroding the circuitry for days, which is why an iPad that seemed fine after a spill can fail a week later. If your iPad has taken liquid, the most important things are to stop using it, do not try to charge it, and bring it in quickly, the sooner we treat it, the more we can usually save.

Our liquid-damage process is board-level, not guesswork. We open the iPad, assess the spread of corrosion, clean the board thoroughly, including ultrasonic cleaning where it’s needed, and trace and repair the specific components the liquid attacked. We’re always honest about the reality: corrosion damage can never be guaranteed, because the harm depends on what was spilt, where it reached and how long it sat. But our success rate on liquid-damaged iPads is high, and even where a board can’t be fully revived we can very often recover your photos and data first.

Won’t turn on

iPad no-power & logic-board repair

An iPad that won’t turn on is alarming, but it’s rarely beyond help, and the fix is often far cheaper than the panic suggests. “Won’t turn on” can mean a totally dead iPad with no response, one stuck on the Apple logo or in a boot loop, a black screen that still chimes or vibrates, or an iPad that only powers on when plugged in. Each of those points us in a different direction, so the first step is always a proper diagnosis rather than a guess.

This is where component-level skill matters most. We test the power rails and charging circuit directly on the board to find why the iPad won’t start, whether it’s a charging fault, a failed power management chip, liquid corrosion, a bad battery or a deeper board issue, and we repair at chip level where a parts-swapping shop would simply give up or quote you a replacement. Crucially, a dead iPad usually still holds all your photos and data, and recovering that is part of what we do.

Back & housing

iPad back glass & frame

The back and frame of an iPad take a lot of punishment. A drop can bend the aluminium chassis, crack the rear glass on cellular models, which have a glass strip for the antenna, or dent a corner badly enough that the screen no longer seats flat, which then causes touch problems or lets dust in. A bent frame also puts ongoing stress on the screen and battery, so it’s worth straightening or replacing rather than living with.

We assess the housing, reshape or replace it as needed, and make sure the screen and internal parts sit correctly afterwards so the repair lasts. Where the rear glass or antenna line is cracked, we explain whether it’s cosmetic or affecting function so you can decide what’s worth doing.

Cameras & audio

iPad camera, speaker & mic

We repair iPad cameras that have stopped working, take blurry or spotty photos, show a cracked lens cover, or display a black square where the camera feed should be. On the front, the camera is part of the TrueDepth or FaceTime assembly, so we also handle issues that affect video calls and, on Face ID models, the sensors tied to it. We fit the correct camera module for your model and test capture, focus and the flash before returning the iPad.

If your iPad has no sound, crackles or distorts, plays audio from only one side, or won’t pick up your voice on calls and recordings, it’s usually a failed speaker or microphone, sometimes after dust or liquid got in. We test to confirm which part is at fault, replace the speaker or mic, and check playback, call audio and recording so everything works cleanly again.

Buttons & Touch ID

iPad buttons, Face ID & Touch ID

Sticky, unresponsive or rattling buttons are a common annoyance: a home button that needs several presses, a power button that won’t wake or sleep the iPad reliably, or volume buttons that have stopped responding. We repair and replace these so they click cleanly again.

There is one honest caveat we always explain on older iPads with a physical home button. That home button contains the Touch ID sensor, and Apple pairs it to the logic board at the factory. If the original button is damaged beyond repair, a replacement can restore the button’s clicking and home function, but Touch ID fingerprint unlock usually cannot be transferred to a new button, because only Apple can re-pair it. We’ll always tell you this up front so you can decide, rather than discovering it afterwards.

Face ID and Touch ID problems range from “Face ID is not available” messages to a fingerprint sensor that no longer responds. Some causes are repairable, such as damaged flex cables or a knocked TrueDepth camera, and some are tied to Apple’s factory pairing, which we’re always straight about. We diagnose exactly what’s failed, tell you honestly whether it can be restored, and never charge you for a repair that can’t deliver the result you’re after.

Models we repair

Every iPad, 2017–2026

We repair every iPad Apple has released, across all four families, the standard iPad, the iPad mini, the iPad Air and the iPad Pro, from 2017 right up to the latest 2026 models. Whether yours runs an older A-series chip or the newest M-series silicon, we keep the parts and the know-how for it. The table below lists the iPad line-up by year, model, screen size and chip, so you can find yours quickly. (Apple released no new iPad in 2023, which is why that year is absent.)

A few practical notes that affect repair. From the 2018 iPad Pro onward, and on the newer iPad Air, Apple moved to a fully laminated, edge-to-edge display and, on the Pro, the smooth 120Hz ProMotion panel, both of which make screen repair more involved and the parts more specialised, so the price reflects that. Apple has also shifted the line-up from Lightning to USB-C, which changes the charging-port repair. And the larger 12.9-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro and iPad Air screens are physically big, thin panels that demand careful handling. None of this is a problem for us, it simply means an accurate, model-specific quote matters, which is exactly what the free diagnostic gives you.

Repair by family

iPad Pro, Air, mini & standard

iPad Pro repair

The iPad Pro is the most advanced and most expensive iPad, with a laminated edge-to-edge display, ProMotion 120Hz on most models, Face ID, and, on recent generations, M-series chips with USB-C and Thunderbolt. That sophistication makes its repairs more involved: the screen is a single bonded assembly that needs controlled heat and careful handling, the Face ID array has to be preserved, and board-level faults demand genuine chip-level skill. Because a new iPad Pro costs several thousand dirhams, repairing yours, whether it’s a cracked ProMotion screen, a swollen battery or a liquid-damaged board, is almost always far better value than replacing it. We keep the parts and tools for every iPad Pro generation, both 11-inch and 12.9 or 13-inch, from the early A10X and A12X models through to the latest M4.

iPad Air repair

The iPad Air sits between the standard iPad and the Pro, and from the 2020 fourth generation onward it adopted the laminated full-screen design and powerful chips, A14, then M1, M2, M3 and now M4, that make it feel close to a Pro. In practice that means its screen repairs behave more like the Pro’s than the basic iPad’s, with a fully bonded display that demands proper technique rather than a quick glass swap. The iPad Air repairs we handle most are cracked laminated screens, battery replacement, USB-C charging-port faults and liquid damage. We repair every iPad Air generation, including the newer 11-inch and 13-inch models, with parts matched to your exact device.

iPad mini repair

The iPad mini packs a full iPad into a compact body, which makes its repairs genuinely fiddly and best left to experienced hands. Its small laminated screen, tightly packed internals and, on the sixth-generation and A17 Pro models, slim USB-C design leave very little margin for error during disassembly. We regularly repair iPad mini cracked screens, worn batteries, charging-port faults and the touch issues owners ask about, and we cover every generation from the fifth-generation A12 model through to the latest A17 Pro mini. The size makes a steady, methodical repair all the more important.

Standard iPad repair

The standard iPad is the most popular and most affordable model, widely used by students, families and businesses across Dubai, so we repair a great many of them. On most standard iPads the screen is two separate layers, the glass and digitiser over a separate LCD, rather than fully laminated, which can make a cracked-glass repair more affordable than on the Air or Pro. Typical repairs include cracked screens, tired batteries, charging-port wear from constant daily use, and the knocks and spills that come with heavy everyday and classroom life. We cover every generation from the fifth through to the eleventh.

Signs you need a repair

When to bring it in

It’s worth bringing your iPad in if you notice any of these: a cracked or shattered screen, areas of the screen that don’t respond or that tap themselves, lines, flickering or discoloured patches on the display, a battery that drains unusually fast or shows under 80% health, a screen or back that is lifting or bulging, an iPad that won’t charge or only charges at an angle, no sound or a microphone that isn’t picked up, a blurry or dead camera, an iPad that won’t turn on or is stuck on the Apple logo, or anything following a drop or a spill. Catching these early usually means a simpler, cheaper repair, and our diagnostic to identify the cause is free.

Why MacTech Pro

An honest, independent specialist

MacTech Pro is an independent Apple-device specialist in Dubai Sports City, not an Apple-authorised counter, and that’s deliberately to your advantage. It means component-level repairs that authorised channels often won’t attempt, genuine-grade parts without authorised-counter mark-ups, honest advice including telling you when a repair isn’t worth it, and a real person who stands behind the work. Every iPad repair is led by the same standards as our board-level MacBook work, carried out by our lead technician, Dan.

Beyond the repair itself, a few simple habits keep your iPad healthy afterwards. A good case and a tempered-glass protector absorb the drops that crack screens; charging with a quality cable and avoiding cheap, uncertified chargers protects the port and the battery; and keeping liquids well away from the device prevents the corrosion that causes the most expensive damage of all. If a problem does appear, acting early almost always means a simpler, cheaper fix, which is exactly why our diagnostic is free, so there is never a cost just to find out where you stand. And when you choose MacTech Pro you get something the big chains rarely offer: a direct line to the technician who actually did the work, and a straight answer every time, even when that answer is that a repair isn’t worth it.

Why MacTech Pro

Why bring it to MacTech Pro

  • We repair the board at component level, not just swap it. On the M1, M1 Pro and M1 Max, a single failed component is usually the whole fault. Repairing that part is cheaper than a board swap and keeps your storage and data intact.
  • Free, honest diagnosis and a fixed price first. You see the real fault and the real cost before any work. No fix, no fee.
  • Genuine or OEM-grade parts, fitted and tested. That matters more on these models, where the mini-LED display and large batteries are expensive to get wrong.
  • Work done by Dan's bench. Power-rail diagnosis and micro-soldering on Apple Silicon by one of Dubai's more experienced technicians, with 380+ reviews behind the shop.
  • Your data comes first. These are pro machines, and we treat the data on them as the priority on every board and liquid job.
  • Free pickup and delivery across Dubai, secure courier to the rest of the UAE, and a 3-month warranty on the repair.

FAQ

iPad repair — frequently asked questions

It depends on the model. A standard iPad screen starts from around AED 199, while a laminated iPad Pro or iPad Air display costs more because the part is more specialised. We give you an exact, fixed price after a free diagnostic, with no obligation to go ahead, so you always know the cost before any work begins.

Yes. We replace batteries on every iPad model. It’s the right fix when your iPad drains quickly, shuts down with charge remaining, only runs while plugged in, or has started to swell and lift the screen. We safely remove the glued battery, fit a fresh genuine-grade cell and reseal the iPad, restoring all-day life to a device that still does everything you need.

Common repairs such as a screen or battery are usually completed the same day. Board-level work, like liquid-damage recovery or a no-power fault, can take longer because it’s done carefully at chip level. We’ll always give you a realistic timeframe with your quote, and offer free pickup and delivery across Dubai if you’d rather not wait.

Yes, and quickly is best. Liquid keeps corroding the board for days, so the sooner we treat it the more we can save. We clean the board, including ultrasonic cleaning where needed, and repair the affected components. We’re honest that corrosion damage can never be guaranteed, but our success rate is high, and we can usually recover your data even in the worst cases.

All of them. Every iPad, iPad mini, iPad Air and iPad Pro from 2017 to the latest 2026 models, across both the older A-series chips and the newer M-series silicon. If you’re not sure which iPad you have, send us a photo or the model number from the back and we’ll identify it for you.

Yes. A dead iPad is rarely beyond help and the fix is often cheaper than expected. We test the power and charging circuits directly on the board to find why it won’t start, whether it’s a charging fault, a power chip, liquid corrosion, the battery or a deeper board issue, and repair at component level. Your photos and data usually remain safe and recoverable.

Yes, for both Lightning and USB-C iPads. If your iPad won’t charge, charges only at an angle, or connects and disconnects, we first check whether it’s simply debris in the port, which we clean, or a worn or corroded port that needs replacing. We diagnose the real cause so you never pay for a part you don’t need.

Often, yes. A screen or battery repair on an older iPad that still runs your apps and does what you need can be excellent value compared with buying new. If a repair genuinely isn’t worth it, we’ll tell you honestly and can recover your data instead. The free diagnostic gives you the facts to decide either way.

Yes. Every iPad repair comes with a 3-month warranty covering the specific repair and the part we fitted. If that same fault returns within the warranty period because of the repair, we put it right at no cost. We also back every repair with our No Fix, No Fee promise.

We use genuine-grade, quality-tested parts and tell you exactly what’s being fitted, and the price, before we start. Nothing goes into your iPad without your approval. For laminated screens and other model-specific parts we explain the options clearly so you can choose with full information.

In most cases, yes. Even when an iPad won’t turn on or has liquid damage, the storage usually still holds your photos, messages and files, and recovering that is part of what we do. If you’re worried about data, tell us up front and we’ll prioritise it during the repair.

We diagnose and repair what can be repaired, such as damaged flex cables or a knocked TrueDepth camera, and we’re always honest about what can’t. On older iPads the Touch ID home button is paired to the board by Apple, so fingerprint unlock often can’t be moved to a replacement button. We explain this clearly before any work so there are no surprises.

Yes. We straighten or replace bent frames, repair cracked rear glass on cellular models, and fix dented housings that stop the screen seating properly. A bent frame stresses the screen and battery over time, so it’s usually worth addressing rather than living with.

Yes. Lines, flickering, coloured bands or dead and ghost-touch areas point to the digitiser or display panel rather than just the glass. We diagnose exactly which layer has failed and replace the correct part, then test the whole surface for touch accuracy and brightness before returning it.

Yes. We run a full diagnostic at no charge and give you a fixed quote before any work. You only pay if you approve a repair, so you’re never charged simply to find out what’s wrong with your iPad.

Yes. We offer free pickup and delivery across Dubai. If you’d rather not travel to us, we’ll collect your iPad, carry out the diagnostic and repair, and return it to you, keeping you updated throughout.

Yes, both, across every generation. The iPad mini’s small size and the iPad Air’s laminated display each call for careful, model-specific handling, which is exactly how we work. Tell us your model and the fault and we’ll give you an accurate quote.

We’re at Stadium Point Building, Office 311, Dubai Sports City, and we serve customers across Dubai with free pickup and delivery. You can visit us, message us on WhatsApp, or arrange a collection, whichever suits you best.

Mainly the screen. Most standard iPads have a separate glass layer over the LCD, so a cracked-glass repair can be more affordable. The iPad Pro, and newer iPad Air and mini, use a fully laminated display bonded as one piece, which takes more skill, time and a more specialised part. We repair both, and the free diagnostic gives you the exact price for your specific model either way.

Yes. A black screen with working sound usually means the display panel or its connection has failed while the iPad itself is still running, rather than a dead device. We diagnose whether it’s the screen assembly, a flex cable or a board-level fault, then repair the correct part. Because the iPad is still functioning underneath, your data is typically safe throughout.

Yes. We repair iPads regardless of where they were originally purchased, the hardware and parts are the same. Bring us the model and the fault and we’ll diagnose and quote it exactly as we would any other iPad, with the same free diagnostic, genuine-grade parts and 3-month warranty.

If your iPad still powers on, backing it up to iCloud or a computer first is always wise, as with any repair. If it will not turn on or the screen is unreadable, do not worry, your data usually remains safe on the storage and we can prioritise recovering it as part of the repair. Just let us know up front that your photos and files matter to you.
